St Michael’s

St Michael’s, Manchester City Centre, was a landmark mixed-use development that transformed the former Bootle Street Police Station into a world-class destination in the heart of the city.

Following the successful completion of the masonry package by McCrory Brickwork, McCrory Construction was appointed by Bowmer + Kirkland to deliver the structural alterations and façade restoration packages, extending our involvement on this high-profile scheme.

Our works included extensive internal structural alterations, demolition and reconfiguration of existing layouts, installation of new structural steelwork, underpinning, metal decking and in-situ concrete slabs, as well as the formation of a new, fully accessible main entrance at ground level.

Externally, we carried out the careful restoration of the Portland stone façade, including nebulous cleaning, stone repairs and replacements, repointing, and the installation of new lead flashings, returning the historic frontage to its original character while ensuring long-term durability.
