Manchester Airport Terminal 2 Refurbishment

Manchester Airport Terminal 2 is a major renovation and expansion programme, including refurbishment works to the existing terminal and the construction of Pier 2, delivered within a live operational airport environment.

McCrory was appointed by Mace as part of the management contracting team to deliver the Structural Steelwork package across both schemes. This scope included brickwork and blockwork, scaffolding and edge protection, and extensive structural steelwork installations and removals, all supported by detailed temporary works.

Following the successful delivery of this package, McCrory was subsequently awarded the Architectural Metalwork package. This included metal decking, secondary and partition support steelwork, riser floors, builders’ work openings, and the making good of existing masonry. Internal works also comprised feature staircases, precast concrete stairs, balustrades and handrails, fire-rated glazed screens, glazed partitions, and aluminium wall panelling, alongside demolition works, lift shaft alterations and temporary fire stopping.

Delivering multiple complex packages within a live airport environment demonstrated McCrory’s ability to build trust through performance and successfully deliver high-risk, technically demanding works on nationally significant infrastructure projects.
